Doctors in School

As one of the first schools in a DET state wide initiative program Mount Rowan has the services of an adolescent health trained Doctor and nurse for one day per week who provide medical consultations for students and support the Mount Rowan Health Education program for students and school community.

The Doctors in Secondary Schools initiative is provided by the Department of Education and aims to:

  • make primary health care more accessible to students
  • provide assistance to young people to identify and address any health problems early
  • aim to reduce the pressure on working parents and community-based GPs.

The program will make a valuable contribution to achieving the school goals of ‘happy, healthy and resilient kids’ by improving ease of access to health services for young people in our community.
